This week we launched the new StartMeUp.nz site using Hugo Book!
We first experimented with the Ananke Gohugo theme which turned out to be a little too complicated for us right now. We switched to a lightweight, clean Hugo Book setup, and created sections for:
📚 Exploring Legal Pathways for Social Enterprise in NZ #
We’ve been reviewing resources from:
- CommunityNet Aotearoa
- Parry Field’s Social Enterprises in New Zealand: A Legal Handbook
We’re hoping these will help us better understand the options available for structuring a sustainable not-for-profit, and clarify what’s possible when blending public interest goals with revenue-generating services.
💸 Toward Fiscal Sponsorship on Open Collective #
We are actively considering applying as a fiscal sponsor via Open Collective, which would allow us to:
- Accept funding transparently
- Sponsor startup projects like JJobs and others based in New Zealand
- Support early-stage digital initiatives with shared infrastructure
🛰️ Next Steps #
- Finalize governance model for supported startups
- Reach out to Open Collective NZ-focused communities
- Begin documenting a starter kit for aspiring social ventures
We’re excited about where this is going — and deeply grateful for the open knowledge ecosystem that supports it.
